In the 21st century, the Republic of Plato no longer relates to a classic book or a geographic place.
The Protognosis Institute (TPI) was founded in 2003 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, to serve as a research and educational institute whose mission is to formulate and promote the principles of Hellenism which began as the basis for western civilization. As the need arose to introduce and educate the benefits of Hellenism to the general public, in 2013, the Republic of Plato was established as a major program of TPI.
The notion of an ideal community of individuals who wish to peacefully reside where there is respect for truth, respect for law and, most importantly, respect for human exceptionalism, is a compelling possibility. The Hellenist principles civilized the world more than 2,500 years ago. A metamorphosis of the spirit results in the realization that one can only control one’s own actions. And, by living one’s life according to these civilizing principles, one affects others. Such is the mission of The Republic of Plato— the establishment of a collective state of mind that transforms like-minded, exceptional individuals into an enlightened, connected global community that comprises the phenomenon known as Western Civilization.
